Ever wonder who’s on the other end when you call VAS Support? Meet Kurtis Monteiro, one of the VAS support specialists making sure DairyComp users have the tools and know-how to keep their dairies running without a hitch.

Kurtis grew up on a dairy in Tulare, California, where technology was just as essential as any piece of equipment. “Our family milked around 8,000 Holsteins, and I can still remember calling VAS Support myself,” he says. “We relied on that person to help us make the most of our technology and now I’m the one on the other side of the line.”

On paper, Kurtis’ role is “technical support,” but he’ll be the first to tell you it’s so much more than that. “I think of it as problem-solving in real time,” he explains. “One minute I’m helping someone pull a specific data list out of DairyComp – that’s probably the most common call I get – and the next, I’m walking through a new vet check workflow with a producer. No two days are the same and that’s what keeps it exciting.”

Kurtis also helps shape what’s next at VAS. By gathering feedback directly from producers and sharing it with the development team, he makes sure new features and updates are driven by real farm needs.

Beyond support calls, Kurtis has also earned the reputation as the team’s mobile solutions expert, training producers and teammates on how to make the most of RFID wands and handheld devices. “These tools are huge for efficiency on the farm,” he says. “They allow instant, accurate, on-the-go data entry. I love helping producers configure them so their workflows run seamlessly.”

Ask Kurtis what he enjoys most about his job, and he’ll tell you it’s the moments he gets to “save the day.” Helping a producer find the right solution for their dairy can save time, labor and money… and be a big win for their bottom line. Kurtis loves being part of that.

Another highlight? Kurtis says it’s the people – both the producers he supports and the team members he works alongside – that really makes this job special. “Everyone at VAS shares the same passion for agriculture and a love of technology. Our team is collaborative, curious and always willing to lend a hand. We’re united by a simple goal: helping producers use data and technology to make better, faster decisions.

Being on the support side brings it all full circle for Kurtis. “I’ve been the one out on the dairy, urgently needing an answer and hoping support could help. Now I’m the one on the other end of that call. I know how much it matters to talk to someone who truly understands what needs to be done,” he explains.

“At the end of the day, every report pulled, every device synced, every question answered – it all helps keep the dairy running. I’m proud to play even a small role in that bigger picture.”
