La maggior parte delle medie dei tratti viene valutata utilizzando le medie dei genitori di tre generazioni, ma alcune medie dei tratti vengono valutate utilizzando la media dei genitori di una generazione o una media di razza. L'uso delle medie dei genitori o delle razze dipende dal tipo di animale che viene valutato:
- Media dei genitori di tre generazioni: Se non è disponibile una prova per una femmina, i dati sui tratti vengono utilizzati dalle tre generazioni precedenti di padri (padre, nonno materno e bisnonno materno) per calcolare le medie dei tratti della femmina. GENEX DairySuite calcola i valori dei tratti utilizzando percentuali ponderate delle medie dei genitori di tre generazioni e della media di razza:
- 50% padre
- 25% nonno materno
- 12.5% bisnonno materno
- 12.5% media di razza
- Media dei genitori di una generazione: Per calcolare le medie dei tratti di una potenziale progenie, vengono utilizzati i dati sui tratti dai genitori della progenie (padre e madre).

- Valutazione: Per garantire che le informazioni sulla consanguineità siano accurate, i valori di consanguineità vengono valutati utilizzando sette generazioni del pedigree della prole.
- Prevenzione: Il piano di accoppiamento esegue sempre un controllo per garantire che il padre dell'animale non sia il suo padre di accoppiamento assegnato. I tratti delle singole femmine del piano vengono analizzati e GENEX DairySuite identifica i tre tratti che sono più lontani dagli obiettivi del piano. Successivamente, i tori vengono abbinati a ciascuna femmina per migliorare i tratti identificati nella loro potenziale progenie. Prima della selezione, GENEX DairySuite vieta qualsiasi abbinamento tra toro e femmina che potrebbe risultare in tratti recessivi, consanguineità o haplotipi negativi (vedi l'elenco completo qui sotto).
