### Required Setup

- This feature is only available when you’re using this device for feeding. If you change your mind about using a device for feeding, [log out of the app](docId\:w3eUqOYDx8RmzbHVfAKFn) and select **Yes** or **No** when asked if the device will be used for feeding.
- Before you can begin using the mobile app for feedings, you must complete the required setup. Follow the instructions in [Start Here: Better Feeding Made Simple](docId\:v9LrP06GJnHphYg6TeHXY) to get started.
- Devices used for feeding must be connected to a scale. See [Configure and Connect the Scale](docId\:yCZP8HFysnbKiOWlTwQoQ) to learn more about connecting to your scale.
:::

A successful feeding cycle begins with loading and mixing ingredients and then dropping it to one or more pens. Using the FeedComp mobile app ensures that your rations are mixed accurately and delivered to the right pens.

:::hint{type="warning"}
⚠️** IMPORTANT: **Do NOT lock your device while using FeedComp. Keep the app running on the screen at all times while actively feeding. Avoid closing the app or opening other apps while feeding.
:::

Loading and dropping can only be completed in the mobile app. To get started:

1. Tap **Feed** at the bottom of the mobile app
2. Select **Feeding Schedule** to view the required feedings for the day. To manage or edit the feedings in your list, see [Create and Schedule Feedings](docId:2AX6be86vG4HoCMoGjqlT).
3. Select a feeding to begin loading.

:::hint{type="warning"}
⚠️ **IMPORTANT:** Avoid connectivity changes while a feeding is in progress or while the app is syncing data.

- If your feeding route passes through areas with WiFi coverage, consider disabling WiFi on your device before starting a feeding. WiFi auto-reconnect can trigger a data refresh that may interrupt an active feeding.
- Do not switch the device to offline mode while the app is still refreshing or syncing data, even if the refresh is taking longer than expected. Interrupting a sync mid-process can result in inconsistent local data and may prevent you from starting a mix.

## Load Ingredients

1. Tap the first feeding to mix.
 If a feeding is too large for the selected mixer, FeedComp displays an overcapacity warning :inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/sNLVke3kA4dybPzyixM1a_overcapacity26x25.png" alt caption size="10" width="26" height="25"}. If you start the mix, it will be [split into multiple feedings](docId\:dHXZqW5DXhQYMBUKYVi-t) and you may need to [reorder the feeding schedule](docId:1nQmhRYKEaUZKpWjS_Gw1).
2. Tap **Start Mix** at the bottom of the screen.
3. Load the first ingredient. During loading, you can:
 - **Ignore** :inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/yWNbBSjGpWWALVGVRn7wh_ignore.png" alt caption size="10" width="21" height="20"}: Remove the ingredient from the feeding. You may want to do this if the ingredient isn't stocked.
 - **Advance **:inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/J4jb6LDPh-fbowHHLMkAv_drop25x25.png" alt caption size="10" width="25" height="25"} (or **Advance this Ingredient**): Move to the next ingredient when you've loaded enough, even if you didn't load to the exact target. See [Load Tolerance](docId\:sptRTo0UdIp01qYPNtEch) to learn more.
 - **Skip** :inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/I8TkHfveAh6whHA9T_fTD_skip.png" alt caption size="10" width="21" height="20"}: Move the ingredient to the end of the queue and load it later.
 - **Abort ** :inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/yWNbBSjGpWWALVGVRn7wh_ignore.png" alt caption size="10" width="21" height="20"} **: **Stop the feeding. Feeding data is not saved. These are identified with an **Aborted** icon :inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/F8dwqWjN5bLY6ZUxOFJbX_aborted-feeding28x25.png" alt caption size="10" width="28" height="25"} on the [Feed History Report](docId\:sNFXayQXWiARjJjnQGD8w) and the feeding data is not saved.
 - **Pause **:inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/1YBWiDzOGchSd08ZqQwke_image.png" alt caption width="47" height="44"}: Put the feeding on hold. Press the **Play **button to resume the feeding.

:::Paragraph{indent="1"}
If an ingredient’s weight falls below the mixer threshold during mixing, FeedComp alerts you before the next ingredient can be added. Tap **Acknowledge** to confirm the ingredient's actual amount and continue mixing. Acknowledged ingredients are identified with an **ACK** icon :inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/EQuh5urpo6t3tjM5gIc9V_ack.png" alt caption size="10" width="40" height="24"} on the [Feed History Report](docId\:sNFXayQXWiARjJjnQGD8w).
:::

4. If a timer was set for the ingredient to mix or a time delay was set between ingredients, you can tap **Skip** to immediately move to the next ingredient in the recipe.
5. Load the rest of your ingredients, then proceed to [Drop the Mix](docId\:Y0Juy7TgEEM8tynNGesle).

## Drop the Mix

:::hint{type="warning"}
**IMPORTANT: **If you have [Loader View](docId\:Jz7z-evo1pFXe8f3DBA5w) on a loading device, the loading device is automatically disconnected from your device once all of the ingredients are loaded.
:::

1. After all ingredients are added to the mixer, tap **Start Dropping** at the bottom of the screen.
2. Drop the mix at the first pen. During the drop, you can:
 - **Ignore** :inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/yWNbBSjGpWWALVGVRn7wh_ignore.png" alt caption size="10" width="21" height="20"}: Remove the pen from the feeding.
 - **Advance **:inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/J4jb6LDPh-fbowHHLMkAv_drop25x25.png" alt caption size="10" width="25" height="25"} (or **Advance this Drop**): Move to the next pen manually, even if you didn't drop to the exact target. Use this option sparingly, as incorrect usage leads to drop errors or flagging the load as incomplete. See [Manual Advances](docId\:bkaRsd7RDZgMHDCg0HcNf) to learn more about this option and [Best Practices](docId\:bkaRsd7RDZgMHDCg0HcNf).

:::hint{type="success" indent="1"}
💡**TIP:** Whenever possible, allow the app to auto advance. This ensures the most accurate data is captured based on your scale's real-time weight.
:::

:::Paragraph{listStyleType="disc" indent="2"}
**Skip** :inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/I8TkHfveAh6whHA9T_fTD_skip.png" alt caption size="10" width="21" height="20"}: Move the pen to the end of the queue and drop feed later.
:::

:::Paragraph{listStyleType="disc" indent="2"}
**Abort ** :inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/yWNbBSjGpWWALVGVRn7wh_ignore.png" alt caption size="10" width="21" height="20"} **: **Stop the feeding. Feedings started but not completed are identified with an **Aborted** icon :inlineImage[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/3h8pSJcGUXEi4HGCCYPTA/F8dwqWjN5bLY6ZUxOFJbX_aborted-feeding28x25.png" alt caption size="10" width="28" height="25"} on the [Feed History Report](docId\:sNFXayQXWiARjJjnQGD8w). Incomplete loading or dropping activities can affect how FeedComp classifies a feeding. See [Complete vs. Incomplete Loads](docId\:bY2w77WqJHFYgGE9McKip) to learn more.

## Use Loader View (BETA)

:::hint{type="warning"}
⚠️** IMPORTANT: **Currently, this feature is only available for Android devices.
:::

Use Loader View to monitor and manage the loading of ingredients from a second mobile device while you're out feeding. Loader View lets the person operating the physical loader (tractor or payloader) use the second mobile device to see ingredient targets, track loading progress, and advance or pause feedings in real time — without walking over to the mixer device.

See [Set Up Loader View (Android Only)](docId\:Jz7z-evo1pFXe8f3DBA5w) to get started!
