## 🎓In This Guide, You Will Learn:

- How to setup parameters for ECON\IR.
- How to understand the information displayed on the ECON\IR report.

**ECON\IR** is a command verb which displays the predicted future herd inventory for the next 7 months based on:

- Animals currently declared pregnant.
- Cull rates entered.
- The semen type for the sires of conception (SIRC) - conventional, sexed, beef.

🗒️ **NOTE:** Future inventory predications can assist in future semen selection.

## Setup Parameters for ECON\IR:

Follow these steps to get started with ECON\IR and create your future inventory report.

1. Enter **ECON\IR** on the command line.
2. Enter the farm's **Replacement Rate for LACT>1 **- Cull rate for 2nd lactation animals and up.
3. Enter the farm's **Replacement Rate for LACT=1 **- Cull rate for 1st lactation animals.
4. Enter the **Live Female Percentage for Unsexed Dairy Semen** - % of calves born from conventional (unsexed) semen resulting in a live female calf being added to the cowfile.
5. Enter the **Live Female Percentage for Sexed Dairy Semen** - % of calves born from sexed semen resulting in a live female calf being added to the cowfile.

⚠️** IMPORTANT: **

- **ECON\IR** is not accurate if **heifers **are stored in a different cowfile.
- **Abort rate **is not calculated or considered by ECON\IR.
- **Replacement Rate** (cull rate) excludes pregnant cows.
- Confirm actual DCC at **dry off** matches the DUDRY item value - DUDRY may be given a different name such as DRYOF or DRY60.
- ECON\IR will look for **DUDRY** or another item using CDAT as the Op1 and an Op2 value > 170.
